Wood Village - Plan for 168-unit complex draws fire Residents of a Wood Village subdivision are fighting a developer’s plan to build 168 new apartments, which would nearly triple the number of apartments in the tiny eastern suburb of Portland along Interstate 84. The request to rewrite broader city development rules to accommodate the apartments could alter the direction of all future residential development in Wood Village, where there is already tension between the desire for single family homes and a push for more affordable multifamily housing. Homeowners say they fear the proposed apartment complex would increase rising problems of grafitti, vehicle break-ins and home burglaries. The development would sit on 6.8 acres between the Lowe’s home improvement store in Wood Village Town Center and the Estates at North Riverwood.
